Neil Oza is a lifelong resident of Rochester Hills, community organizer, and nonprofit leader. As an Eagle Scout, he was taught to give back to his community which is what inspired him to start his career working for Senator Gary Peters while at Michigan State University earning a degree in Supply Chain Management.

For him, the best part of working for Senator Peters was hearing the challenges that folks were facing and working to find solutions. He continued this work as a community organizer and nonprofit leader to do everything he could to address the problems that keep our families up at night.

Neil knows times are tough: the pandemic has taken a toll on our mental health, small businesses, and our children's education; polluters continue to contaminate our air and water without consequence; families are scared of the gun violence in our country; the price of everything has gone up; the US Supreme Court has taken away the right to abortion; and the essence of democracy, free and fair elections, are under attack.

As a second-generation immigrant coming from a union family, he understands the power of coming together to make the lives of our communities stronger. Neil is running for State Representative because he wants to bring Greater Rochester together to overcome these challenges and build a Michigan where all our families can stay and thrive!
  • Neil Oza has a Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain Management, giving him the insight needed to fix our broken supply chain and lower costs for working families.
  • Neil Oza is a community leader who has worked to protect abortion access and champion reproductive freedom, keep our kids safe from gun violence, and ensure clean drinking water for all Michiganders.
  • Neil Oza is a public servant who got his start working for U.S. Senator Gary Peters, who has become a friend and mentor that has supported Neil in his career.
Neil is passionate about

1.Lowering the cost of prescription drugs by cracking down on price gouging and holding big pharmaceutical companies accountable.

2. Championing reproductive freedom by expanding healthcare access and overturning Michigan's abortion ban.

3. Protect our kids from gun violence by passing safe storage laws, universal background checks, waiting periods, Red Flag laws, and banning the sale of assault weapons and limiting high-capacity magazines, among other things. Neil is proud to be the only candidate to receive the Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate Distinction in this race.

4. Fully fund our public schools and fight back against the radical Betsy DeVos agenda to provide more resources in the classroom.

5. Invest in mental health services, including more mental health professionals in schools.

6. Keep our water safe and clean by strengthening drinking water standards and address PFAS contamination in our water.
The public servant I look up to most is U.S. Senator Gary Peters who took a chance on me and gave me my first opportunity in public service. Since then he's become a close friend and mentor who's supported me and my career. He taught me the importance of standing up for others and fighting for the values you believe in.

For the 116th Congress, Senator Peters was rated the most effective Senator in the country. This is because-- unlike many politicians--he is a workhorse, not a show horse and builds coalitions to deliver for his constituents.

If elected State Representative, I hope to follow his example of working hard and getting results on the issues that matter most to families in Greater Rochester.
A Promised Land by Barack Obama. Reading President Obama's memoir in early 2021 was when the idea first popped into my head that maybe I should run for office one day, even though I'd always been completely against the idea. As a young brown man, reading about what lead our first black president on his path towards and during his early presidency was inspiring. Of course, I then brushed it off as a silly idea for nearly a year until jumping into running for State House, but it was the first thing to light the spark for me.
