Ridgely ran for election to the Orphans Court of Carroll County.
Primary: He was successful in the Democratic primary on June 24, 2014, receiving 32.1 percent of the vote. He competed against Ed Leister and Charles E. Harrison. Primary candidates competed for 3 seats and thus ran unopposed.
General: He was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 7.2 percent of the vote. He competed against Charles E. Harrison, Ed Leister, John D. Carbaugh, and incumbent judges, Dorothy V. Utz and Cathy Reese for three open seats.
