Nelida Malave-Gonzalez
Nelida Malave-Gonzalez is a judge for the Bronx County Surrogate's Court in New York. She was elected to the court in 2012 and her term expires in 2026.[1][2]
Education
Malave-Gonzalez received an undergraduate degree from Fordham University in 1985 and a J.D. from City University of New York Queens School of Law in 1991.[3]
Career
Malave-Gonzalez spent thirteen years as an attorney in Bronx County. She also worked as an Administrative Law Judge for the NYC Environmental Control Board, Senior Student Legal Specialist with the NYC Law Department, and with the NYC Department of Consumer Affairs. From 2005 to 2012, Malave-Gonzalez was a judge on the New York City Civil Court, where she served until election to the Bronx County Surrogate's Court.[3]
2012 election
Malave-Gonzalez was elected to the Bronx County Surrogate's Court. She defeated Frances M. O'Leary in the general election on November 6, winning 82.27% of the vote.[4] [5]
