|Nelson's father and grandparents legally immigrated from Ecuador to the United States before he was born and taught him the value of hard work at a young age. Those values were put to the test at the age of six, when Nelson's father died of a sudden heart attack. He was forced to grow up quickly, while his mom worked nights and weekends at a local department store.
Nelson's mom later married a man who raised Nelson as his own. His family started a trucking company, and Nelson spent years learning the business firsthand. He worked his way up to supervise their operations. Nelson knows what it’s like to take a leap of faith and start a business and to struggle at times.
Nelson worked hard to pay his way through both college and law school, before spending the last 11 years in law and public policy. From 2013-2015, he served as the Legislative Director and General Counsel for State Senator Charles Schwertner, M.D., where he helped guide the Senator's conservative legislative agenda through the Texas Legislature. At that time, Nelson and his wife, Kristin, moved to Williamson County to build a home and have a family. Nelson is now fighting for a return to commonsense, conservative values in Texas House District 52.- As the father of a second grader in Round Rock ISD, I view things from a parent’s perspective and share your frustrations with the COVID learning environment. It’s time to get back to real education, address COVID learning loss, and ensure our kids are gaining the skills they need to reach their full potential. Let’s teach our children HOW to think, not WHAT to think.
- Having spent years in the trucking and logistics industry, I understand the burden government places on business owners and hard-working Texans. I’ll keep government out of the way and fight for the kind of pro-job, pro-growth policies that allow businesses to grow, prosper, and create an environment of opportunity. I’ll also work to improve our infrastructure and electric grid to ensure that Texas remains the best state in the nation for job creation and capital investment.
- Our brave police officers and first responders put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe. With cities like Austin actively working to defund the police, officers and their families need our support more than ever before. I’ll always “Back the Blue” and fight to ensure law enforcement has the resources, training, and support they need to protect our communities.
-Securing the border from dangerous drug cartels and human traffickers.
-Supporting pro-job, pro-growth economic policies.
-Supporting law enforcement and oppose efforts to defund the police.
-Fighting for real property tax relief.
