I grew up in another small town in northwestern Pennsylvania in two homes due to a split family. I remember my parents struggling to pay the bills from time to time. I didn't want to struggle like that but didn't know it was nearly inevitable where I come from. Now I'm a working mom and my husband and I have 8 kids (his, mine, and ours). I like to be involved in the community through political action and the arts. I've done comedy improv and acting in community theatre. I've also helped found a support group and 501c3 organization for parents grieving the loss of a pregnancy or infant.
  • Quality education for all.
  • Property tax relief.
  • Affordable and accessible healthcare.
I am passionate about education. It may seem cliche, but children are the future. When children receive a quality education they have the best start at life to go on and do great things.

I'm also passionate about economic justice for the working class, mitigating income inequality, and taxing the rich their fair share.
I look up to my grandparents. They've both been gone for a long time now, but I idolized them as children. My Papa was a WWII vet and my Grandma worked for the Department of Health. Everyone in town knew them. They worked with the Historical Society a lot. I remember helping my Grandma bake EVERYTHING during the holidays and then delivering it to people around town who had a hard time getting out and about. I still come across people who know my maiden name because of my grandparents.

I believe the core responsibilities are to serve their constituents to the best of their abilities, leaving personal bias and opinion behind. I believe someone elected to this office should sponsor responsible laws that can be worked through to come to a reasonable compromise will all sides of the political fence. Also, a person in this position should assist all constituents equally, without judgment, to ensure that they have full access to all of the state services that are available to them.
I'd like to leave a legacy that I always stood for what is right, that I took action when others couldn't stand up, that I was the voice for the voiceless at times, and that I love my family beyond belief.
I remember the election of 1988: Bush vs. Dukakis. My family was rooting for Bush. I was so inspired by the election, I decided that my family should have an election for "President of the House." We all had to go behind my Care Bear curtains and fill out a ballot. Much to my dismay, I did not win President of the House.
I worked at McDonald's for a very brief time in high school. As a high school student who also took college courses at night, I needed a very specific schedule that was discussed upfront. When they wouldn't accommodate me, I left the job.
I love "The Catcher in the Rye" because of Holden's fantasy of catching all the children that may fall. It's a life metaphor for me, hoping that I can help lift others out of low spots in their lives.

I've struggled with my mental health and disability my entire life.

Many don't realize that mental health problems are physical ailments, brought on by changes or chemical imbalances in the brain. When your neurotransmitters are firing the way they should, it affects your moods and ability to concentrate.
I have well-controlled ADHD, anxiety, and depression, but it has been a long road to get here.

I believe I have a unique perspective because of my disability and I believe that gives me more empathy for all struggles that people face as I've experienced lows and highs throughout my life.
I wish for our Governer and State Legislature to have a collaborative relationship in which they can enhance each other's duties.
I believe that the rising costs of healthcare may cripple many Pennsylvanians in the next decade.
I think the benefit is that they'd be able to get more legislating through, but the drawback is a lack of checks and balances.
I believe that experience is beneficial to every situation. However, in politics, I think it is more important to remember your roots and the people who voted for you.
Absolutely! It's always easier to work with people that you know, and even better, that you like!

Possibly, down the road. I can't say right now.
I spoke to a resident who works in human services. They are frustrated by the inaction of the current administration when it comes to funding these organizations. Never increasing taxes means that the people who provide home health services, mental health services, and those for residents with developmental disabilities never get a pay increase. These workers love what they do and the people that they work for, but their income becomes unsustainable with the ever-increasing cost of living. There are people who haven't received a raise in years. This also creates a high turnover rate for these positions as people will leave the industry or go elsewhere for sustainable wages.
Raising taxes isn't necessarily the answer if other creative ways of increasing funding can be implemented, but there must be a solution to providing these agencies with enough money to do the very important work that they are doing every day.
Compromise is vital. There will always be disagreements and no two people will believe exactly the same.
