April Becker defeated four other candidates in the June 14 Republican primary for Nevada's 3rd Congressional District. Incumbent Susie Lee, who was first elected in 2018, ran in the Democratic primary.
Becker, John Kovacs, and Noah Malgeri led in fundraising and media attention.
At the time of the election, Becker ran April Becker & Associates, a law practice, and owned several small businesses with her husband. In the 2020 general election for state Senate, Nicole Cannizzaro (D) defeated Becker 50.5% to 49.5%. Becker listed the economy, border security and crime rates, and education as the top issues facing the state.[1] Becker said, "I think Susie Lee doesn’t care about people. I think she is in this job for the wrong reasons. In contrast, I care about the people who I am going to work for...That has been my motivator for everything I have done my entire life. Going to law school, my pro bono work, my senate and congressional race…it is going to be me fighting for the people I work for."[1] Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R), former Ambassador Nikki Haley, and the Nevada Republican Party endorsed Becker.
At the time of the election, Kovacs was the president of NVNJ Construction Group, a construction company he founded. He listed inflation, border security and crime, and water scarcity as his top issues.[2] In drawing attention to the issue of water scarcity, Kovacs said, "It’s not as sexy as the election fraud or critical race theory or the Second Amendment, but if this area didn’t have water, it’d be a ghost town."[3] Kovacs has said his background running businesses is what sets him apart from his opponents: "How many other candidates are running multimillion-dollar businesses with collective bargaining agreements and paying into health care for more than 50 employees? None of them. One day I’m an accountant, the next a lawyer, then an engineer… the other candidates have no concept of this stuff. People are going to see this once we start talking about the issues.”[3] In a campaign ad, Kovacs described Becker as a RINO (Republican In Name Only).
At the time of the election, Malgeri was a U.S. Amy veteran, attorney, and founder and CEO of Mojave Rail Fabrication, a company that made automobile roof racks. Malgeri campaigned on stopping the teaching of critical race theory in schools, ending corruption in Washington D.C., and making America economically independent of China. Malgeri said, "I think my big picture appreciation of things like China, insight as patent attorney and decorated Army officer living in Europe for five years and the fact that I invented something and built a business around it have equipped me with the necessary perspective. I’ve also lived and worked in Washington, D.C., before. I know what it’s like there.”
Clark Bossert and Albert Maxwell Goldberg also ran in the race.
The Cook Political Report with Amy Walter and Inside Elections with Nathan L. Gonzales consider the general election a Toss-up. Larry J. Sabato's Crystal Ball rates the general election Tilt Democratic.
Nevada's 3rd Congressional District was created in 2001 as a result of redistricting. Republicans have won six of the last 10 elections—in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2010, 2012, and 2014. Democrats won the district in 2008, 2016, 2018, and 2020. In 2020, Lee defeated challenger Daniel Rodimer (R) 48.8% in 45.8%. According to an analysis of the 2020 presidential election by Daily Kos, under the district's previous lines, residents voted for Joe Biden (D) over then-President Donald Trump (R) 49.1% to 48.9%.[4]

Combating Gas Prices
Honest Leadership

Clark Bossert (R)
Our leaders’ lack of integrity, morality, and courage has left the people of Nevada CD3 without meaningful representation and devoid of an opportunity to enact substantive reform.
If we don't fight for our country then we are going to lose it. We can take our county back and secure the blessings of liberty to the next generation but it's going to take everyone at the top, the bottom, and the middle.
STOP THE HATE CRT & 1619 PROJECT & BLM WHICH ARE HATE CRIMES AGAINST WHITE PEOPLE
STAY OUT OF POINTLESS WARS AS CHINA & RUSSIA COMMIT GENOCIDE ON 70 MILLION PEOPLE

John Kovacs (R)
The Biden Administration has embraced radical social policies that call for defunding the police and teaching Critical Race Theory to our children. I believe in American Exceptionalism and am running to protect the idea of America as envisioned by our Founders.
The depletion of Lake Mead has left Southern Nevada increasingly short of water, a situation no politician has the courage to talk about. If elected, I will work to find bold but achievable solutions to this unfolding crisis.

Noah Malgeri (R)
Second Key Message: Critical race theory (CRT) or “wokism” is no longer just the fixation of college professors- it’s driving policy in our government, corporate institutions, military, and, worst of all, our public and private schools. It is a dangerous and divisive ideology that has no place in America. I pledge to defund CRT and drive it out of the American political mainstream as well as our school curricula.
Third Key Message: The corruption in our country is the worst our generation has ever seen. There are now explicitly two systems of justice: one deployed by elites against their adversaries in; and another that legitimizes and hides the crimes of the elite. We must remain subject to laws, not men. I will fight to expose public corruption, lying, and actual crimes of the elite through the use of legislation and oversight power.

19) 12 year term limits
John Kovacs (R)
Public Safety: I am appalled at the continued calls from the left to “defund the police.” This rhetoric, even when not accompanied by cuts to police budgets, has had a dreadful impact on police morale and led massive numbers of officers to retire. If elected, I will push to ensure that local police forces do not get marginalized and that people who commit crimes are prosecuted.
Second Amendment: I believe that the Founders put the Second Amendment in the Constitution as a check against any tyrannical tendencies the federal government might display. Owning a gun is a right that “shall not be infringed,” and I will fight any and all attempts to diminish or eliminate it.
Water Scarcity in Southern Nevada: Politicians have not talked about the issue despite a clearly worsening situation in Lake Mead. I want to increase the water supply through methods such as piping in desalinated water from California and purchasing water rights from states with heavy amounts of rain.

Noah Malgeri (R)
China
The Chinese Communist state is a global menace. They will stop at nothing in order to become the world’s superpower and bring America down in the process. Indeed, they have already launched a hot war against us.
As a former military and international lawyer who has practiced law in three continents and during war and peacetime, I know how to stop them and make them pay reparations for the considerable damage they have already caused.
Protect the Second Amendment
The Right to Bear Arms is an essential American liberty. I will work vigorously to halt all attempts at unconstitutional federal gun control and work to give back the liberties taken from Americans.
Stand Up for the Right to Life
As an unapologetic Christian and proud father, I am 100% Pro-Life. I will defund Planned Parenthood, expose the butchery of the abortion industry, and protect State and Local governments who move to promote life.
Cut Taxes
Excessive taxes and regulations hold back so many Americans from achieving their dreams and providing for the basic necessities. I will simplify the tax code and slash taxes to allow working Americans to keep more of their own money, instead of sending it overseas to corrupt regimes with no accountability or oversight. This waste of the money of hard working Americans is a crime and must end.

Race ratings
- See also: Race rating definitions and methods
Ballotpedia provides race ratings from four outlets: The Cook Political Report, Inside Elections, Sabato's Crystal Ball, and DDHQ/The Hill. Each race rating indicates if one party is perceived to have an advantage in the race and, if so, the degree of advantage:
- Safe and Solid ratings indicate that one party has a clear edge and the race is not competitive.
- Likely ratings indicate that one party has a clear edge, but an upset is possible.
- Lean ratings indicate that one party has a small edge, but the race is competitive.[6]
- Toss-up ratings indicate that neither party has an advantage.
Race ratings are informed by a number of factors, including polling, candidate quality, and election result history in the race's district or state.[7][8][9]

Post-filing deadline analysis
The following analysis covers all U.S. House districts up for election in Nevada in 2022. Information below was calculated on April 6, 2022, and may differ from information shown in the table above due to candidate replacements and withdrawals after that time.
In 2022, 38 candidates filed to run in Nevada’s four U.S. House districts, including 21 Republicans, 12 Democrats, and five independent or third party candidates. That’s 9.5 candidates per district, less than the 10.0 candidates per district in 2020 and 10.5 candidates per district in 2018.
This was the first candidate filing deadline under new district lines following Nevada's decennial redistricting process. Nevada was apportioned four congressional districts, the same number it had after the 2010 census. Since Democrats and Republicans filed to run in every district, none were guaranteed to one party or the other at the time of the filing deadline.
All four incumbents filed for re-election and, of that total, three drew primary challengers leaving Rep. Steven Horsford (D) as the only incumbent uncontested in a primary. In Nevada, uncontested primaries are canceled, meaning Horsford was guaranteed to advance to the general election.
With all four incumbents seeking re-election, this left no open districts. The last time Nevada had an open U.S. House district was in 2018 with two.
The 2nd district drew the most candidate filings with 14 candidates running. This included five Republicans, including incumbent Rep. Mark Amodei, seven Democrats, and two third party candidates.
Presidential elections
Partisan Voter Index
Heading into the 2022 elections, based on results from the 2020 and 2016 presidential elections, the Cook Partisan Voter Index for this district was D+1. This meant that in those two presidential elections, this district's results were 1 percentage points more Democratic than the national average. This made Nevada's 3rd the 201st most Democratic district nationally.[14]
2020 presidential election results
