Carson City, Nevada: Governor Brian Sandoval has appointed two Las Vegas lawyers to fill vacant seats on Nevada's Eight Judicial District Court. He selected Kerry Earley and Adriana Escobar from lists of three finalists for each position. The lists were provided to him by the Commission on Judicial Selection.[1]

Both of these appointments last until January 2013. If they wish to continue serving, both judges must successfully retain their positions in the 2012 election.[1]

Kerry Louise Earley

Kerry Earley will replace Judge Kathy Hardcastle, who retired from her Department 4 seat on April 13, 2012.[1] Earley is currently a lead litigation attorney at Las Vegas's Richard Harris Law Firm. She graduated from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri, and earned her J.D. from the University of San Diego Law School. From 1978 to 1979, Earley worked as a part-time law clerk for the U.S. Attorney in San Diego.[2] She has been a Nevada attorney since 1982.[1] In recent years, almost all of Earley's work has involved litigation.[2]

Adriana Escobar

Adriana Escobar will replace Judge Donald Mosley, who retired from his Department 14 seat on March 3, 2012. Escobar is currently a Deputy Nevada Attorney General.[1] She graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and earned her J.D. from California Western School of Law.[2] Escobar was admitted to the Nevada bar in 1993. Before beginning work for the attorney general, she was special counsel at Fox Rothschild LLP, representing clients in corporate, immigration, and administrative law.[1]
