In Nevada, a majority vote is required in two successive sessions of the Nevada State Legislature to place an amendment on the ballot.

The amendment was introduced as Assembly Joint Resolution 6 (AJR 5). It was approved by the Assembly by 26-15 on April 17, 2023. It was approved by the Senate by 12-8 on May 26, 2023.[1]
