The Judicial Update

March 29, 2012

Nevada: Judge David Huff of the Nevada Third Judicial District Court passed away on March 22nd at age 72.[1] Huff had announced his intention to retire effective April 30th. He had been off the bench since January due to poor health.[2] Elected to the bench in 1996, Huff had served 15 years as a District Court judge. He received both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Iowa. He worked as a military judge after serving in the Navy during the Vietnam War. Nevada Supreme Court Chief Justice Nancy Saitta said "it is difficult to lose such a fine judge, especially someone who has been a strong force in Nevada's judiciary during the past 15 years."[1]

Former Churchill County prosecutor Thomas Stockard filled the vacancy left by Judge Huff's death.[3]
