New Alabama legislative districts likely to help maintain GOP gains
May 15, 2012
BIRMINGHAM, Alabama: Alabama is one of the final states to be conducting the re-drawing of its state legislative districts. The state does not hold legislative elections in 2012, and thus the legislature was not required to complete new maps earlier.[1]
Governor Robert Bentley (R) is expected to call legislators into a special session to pass new district maps.
The plans will reportedly maintain the same number of majority-minority districts.[1]
