Issues in the election

Increased student enrollment

At a school board meeting on September 21, it was announced that the district's enrollment has increased by 767 students since October 2014.[7] This rise impacted schools across the district, causing teachers to be transferred to schools where they were needed most. According to Scott Powers, director of communications and community relations for the district, the adjustments "Included making some discretionary teacher assignments to campuses where there was a need as well as hiring paraprofessionals to assist in larger classes. Also, four teachers were transferred to Tavola Elementary from schools where enrollment is less than projected, and there were some grade-level transfers made within campuses where it was necessary to balance grade-level numbers and class sizes appropriately."[7] The district emphasized the importance of planning for the future so that adjustments might be made to accommodate the district's growth.
