New Georgia Supreme Court Chief Justice named

Georgia: Georgia Supreme Court presiding justice Carol Hunstein has been named the new chief justice, replacing Leah Ward Sears who resigned from the court in June of 2009. Hunstein was unanimously elected by the seven members of the court, and was sworn in on July 1, 2009.
Hunstein began her legal career by setting up a private practice in Decatur after her graduation from Stetson University College of Law. She ran for an open seat on the DeKalb County Superior Court in 1984, and was appointed to the Supreme Court in 1992.
After being sworn in, Hunstein said, "I will not waver in my commitment to lead the judiciary with integrity and fairness."[1]
