The New Hampshire School Boards Association (NHSBA) is an organization of school boards in New Hampshire. The association describes itself as "a private, non-profit organization dedicated to supporting our members by providing a variety of services to assist local school boards with their responsibilities relative to school district governance."[1]

The NHSBA withdrew from the National School Boards Association in October 2021.[2]

Background

The NHSBA's mission "is to promote excellence in public education for all New Hampshire children."[1] The NHSBA said it will:[1]

  • Be a major pro-active force in planning and implementing positive educational reform.
  • Represent the interests of local school boards in the development of state and federal education policy.
  • Provide information and assistance to school boards so that all board members may more effectively perform their duties.
  • Seek public support and commitment for equal educational opportunities for all New Hampshire children.
  • Encourage mutual support and closer cooperation among all school boards within the state.[3]

Legislative and policy work

NHSBA lobbies the New Hampshire Legislature over bills related to school boards. Members determine the NHSBA's policy positions at an annual Delegate Assembly.[5] Members can also access policy services like general policy and legal information, sample policies, and other resources.[6]
