How vacancies are filled in New Hampshire
If there is a vacancy in the New Hampshire General Court, a special election must be held to fill the vacant seat. The governor and executive council must call a special election within 21 days of receiving proof of a vacancy or a request that a vacancy be filled.[1][2][3]

The candidate filing deadline was October 13, 2023.[4] The seat became vacant after incumbent Troy Merner (R) left office on September 20, 2023. The candidate filing deadline was December 29, 2023.[10] The New Hampshire Republican Party selected the Republican nominee after no candidates filed for the Republican primary.[11] The seat became vacant after incumbent Robin Vogt (D) resigned on December 1, 2023.
