The Judicial Update

March 30, 2011

Des Moines, Iowa: March 24th marked the first day of service for the three newly appointed justices of the Iowa Supreme Court: Edward Mansfield, Thomas Waterman and Bruce B. Zager. They were appointed to replace three justices who were not retained to office in November 2010 due to voter discontent with a ruling supporting same-sex marriage.[1] Chief Justice Mark Cady stated, “We’re all very excited to move forward. We certainly haven’t forgotten our past, but it’s time to move forward and we’re very pleased to have our three new justices on board." The court heard two cases at Drake Law School as a way of reaching out to the law students.[2]
