New Jersey Public Question No. 2 (1988)

The New Jersey Public Question No. 2 was on the ballot in New Jersey on November 8, 1988, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The amendment required that a vacancy in the legislature be filled within 35 days by a county committee of the same party the incumbent was a member of, and that the appointee serve until a successor is elected at the next general election at least 51 days after the vacancy is created or otherwise until the end of the unexpired term.[1]
