The New Jersey Public Question No. 5 was on the ballot in New Jersey on November 8, 1983, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The amendment to Article VII, Section 3, paragraph 3 and Section 4, paragraphs 1 and 3 of the New Jersey Constitution created a family part of the Chancery Division of the New Jersey Superior Court and transferred judges from preexisting juvenile, family and domestic relations courts.[1]
