The New Jersey Public Question No. 6 was on the ballot in New Jersey on November 6, 1984, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The amendment to Article VIII, Section 1, paragraph 7 of the New Jersey Constitution prohibited future state taxation on Social Security and Railroad Retirement benefits.[1]
