The New Mexico Permanent Fund Distribution Amendment did not appear on the November 8, 2016 ballot in New Mexico as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. The measure would have increased the amount of the annual distributions from the permanent funds.[1]

The amendment was proposed by Sen. Michael Padilla (D-14) as Senate Joint Resolution 3.[2]

According to Article XIX of the New Mexico Constitution, a simple majority is required in the legislature to refer the amendment to the ballot.
The bill was introduced in the New Mexico State Senate on December 18, 2015. The legislature failed to refer the measure to the ballot as of the end of the session on February 18, 2016.[2]
