New Mexico state courts hit hard with budget crunch
February 13, 2011
New Mexico: New Mexico's state court systems is facing continued budget problems. District courts across the state are cutting expenses including eliminating copy machines, turning down the heat, and eliminating security personnel. The 2010 year marked a decrease of $17 million from the 2009 operating budget, leaving the courts with $137 million dollars. While the judiciary is requesting an additional $6.3 million, the current proposed budgets from the Finanace committee and Governor include cuts of $1.4 million and $4 million respectively.[1]
