The 12th Congressional District of New York held an election for the U.S. House of Representatives on November 8, 2016.
Heading into the election, Ballotpedia rated this race as safely Democratic. Incumbent Carolyn Maloney (D) defeated Robert Ardini (R) in the general election on November 8, 2016. Maloney defeated Pete Lindner in the Democratic primary on June 28, 2016.[4][5]

Incumbent: Heading into the election the incumbent was Carolyn Maloney (D), who was first elected in 1992. Prior to 2012 redistricting, Maloney represented New York's 14th Congressional District.
As of the 2010 redistricting cycle, New York's 12th Congressional District was located in the southeastern portion of the state and included parts of Kings, Queens, and New York counties.[8]
