The 2nd Congressional District of New York held an election for the U.S. House of Representatives on November 4, 2014. Incumbent Rep. Peter King (R) defeated Patricia M. Maher (D) and William D. Stevenson (Green) in the general election.

Voter registration: To vote in the federal primary, voters had to register by May 30, 2014. To vote in the state primary, voters had to register by August 15, 2014.[6]

Incumbent: Heading into the election the incumbent was Peter King (R), who was first elected in 1992.
New York's 2nd Congressional District is located in the eastern portion of the state and includes parts of Nassau and Suffolk counties.[7]

On July 30, 2014, the U.S. House approved a resolution 225 to 201 to sue President Barack Obama for exceeding his constitutional authority. Five Republicans—Thomas Massie of Kentucky, Paul Broun of Georgia, Scott Garrett of New Jersey, Walter Jones of North Carolina and Steve Stockman of Texas—voted with Democrats against the lawsuit.[9] King joined the other 224 Republicans in favor of the lawsuit. All Democrats voted against the resolution.[10][11]

On November 2, 2010, Steve Israel won re-election to the United States House. He defeated John Gomez (R) and Anthony Tolda (Constitution) in the general election.[21]
