The 9th Congressional District of New York held an election for the U.S. House of Representatives on November 8, 2016.
Heading into the election, Ballotpedia rated this race as safely Democratic. Incumbent Yvette Clarke (D) defeated Alan Bellone (Conservative) in the general election on November 8, 2016. Neither candidate faced any opposition in the primaries on June 28, 2016.[4][5]

Incumbent: Heading into the election the incumbent was Yvette Clarke (D), who was first elected in 2006. She represented New York's 11th Congressional District from 2007-2013. Due to redistricting, Clarke ran in New York's 9th District in 2012.
New York's 9th Congressional District is located in the eastern portion of the state and includes sections of Kings County.[8]
