The New York Acts of a Sheriff, Proposal 1, also known as Proposal 1, was on the 1989 ballot in New York as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved.
The measure proposed amending Section 13, Article 13 of the state Constitution. The measure was "in relation to making a county responsible and liable for the acts of its sheriff."[1]
