The New York Succession of Governor-elect, Amendment 1, also known as Proposed Amendment No. 1, was on the ballot in New York on November 8, 1949, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. This amendment authorized the "lieutenant-governor-elect to serve as governor in event of death of governor-elect before assuming office."[1]
