October 17, 2011

Colorado: At the beginning of October, the Colorado 17th Judicial District launched its first drug court, presided over by Judge Leroy Kirby. The Eighteenth Judicial District followed suit, opening its drug court last Friday, October 14.[1][2]

Magistrate Bonnie McLean will preside in the Eighteenth District. The court, referred to as a problem-solving court, hopes to treat those with substance abuse problems, in an effort to reduce recidivism by adopting an approach that incorporates all levels of law enforcement and treatment providers.[1]
