As a former public school teacher, attorney, Navy servicemember, Local School Council (LSC) representative, and environmental project developer fighting climate change, I have always been committed to helping people in my community and improving the world around me. Bold, hardworking, and pragmatic, I am a proven leader who has never shied from taking on the toughest roles or solving the toughest problems.

A native Chicagoan, I am committed to the growth and success of the city and County that I love and in which I am raising my family. That’s the mission I carry every day, and it’s what has inspired me to step forward as a candidate for this important role. I am running for my community, my neighbors, and my family, and I am not a political insider beholden to any special interests.

I’m ready to roll up my sleeves as County Commissioner and get to work for the people of the 8th District.
  • Cook County residents are facing 1) a rising cost of living and 2) a pronounced housing shortage. To address affordability, the County Board needs to protect essential services for County residents, limit property tax increases on homeowners, and prioritize policies that will create jobs that pay a living wage and provide training for job seekers. County leaders need to cut red tape and prioritize pro-growth policies that will incentivize and facilitate housing development of all kinds, as well as facilitate business growth and population growth.
  • We need to ensure residents can build their futures here. In the near term, that means addressing Trump’s campaign of terror and ICE’s abuses of power and force. As an experienced military attorney with expertise on the rules on the use of force, I will ensure that the County protects residents’ rights and effectively stands up to Trump’s reckless policies. We also need to protect access to essential services, like health care and legal services, at a time when Federal cuts threaten to limit these programs. Taking a longer view, we must invest in climate-resilient housing and infrastructure, addressing current challenges like flood-prone neighborhoods while planning for expanded public transit, Forest Preservers, and communal green spaces.
  • County government should be more efficient. We must eliminate wasteful or redundant spending and prioritize cutting red tape for new business establishment, building development, and government operations. Further, we can increase revenue by taking pro-growth actions to boost new business formation and create jobs - jobs that will lead to additional revenues and attract new residents and expand our tax base. The County Board must make prudent, transparent decisions rooted in the best interests of County residents, which involves targeting the root causes of problems rather than their symptoms, and eliminating wasteful spending while still providing essential support services.
I believe in creating a community that provides abundant housing and economic opportunity for residents of Cook County, and the 8th District in particular. I want to see a County government that is more efficient, more innovative, and more transparent, and that provides property tax relief to homeowners. I am committed to protecting essential services for County residents, like health care and legal services, and am focused on preparing the County for a changing climate. I will be focused on protecting all residents’ rights and standing up to right-wing extremism.
I am honored to have the endorsement of Abundant Housing Illinois, Chicago Growth Project, Vote Vets, Illinois Veterans for Change, and A City that Works.
