Presently, I am in my 6th year serving on the Coppell ISD Board of Trustees. During that time, I earned the designation of Master Trustee through the Leadership TASB program and served as either President or Secretary of the Board since becoming eligible to be an officer at the end of my first year as a Trustee. I was recently elected as a representative of Region 10’s Legislative Advocacy Committee for the Texas Association of School Boards. I also currently serve as the alumna capital campaign chair for a student organization I was involved with as a collegiate.

Before my time as a CISD Trustee, my primary volunteer involvement revolved around Coppell ISD and the activities of my four sons over 19 years, including PAC Co-Chair for both the 2013 and 2016 Coppell ISD bond measures, three years as the President of the Coppell Education Foundation during my seven years of service, board member of the Coppell Gifted Association, more than a dozen CISD committees, booster clubs for the fine arts and athletics, PTO positions at four campuses, the fine arts and athletics programs volunteer, and as a participant in CISD’s inaugural iLead cohort.

Aside from CISD, I have served in other capacities including as a board member of Christian Community Action, as a member of the Young Men’s Service League, as a Seasons of Service luncheon committee member for Metrocrest, and in many volunteer roles at Irving Bible Church.
  • I believe I add real value to the district with the challenges public education is currently facing. I am a strategic thinker, problem solver, calculated risk taker, and I have a strong desire to help Coppell ISD remain a destination district. I am running to continue serving all students, teachers, staff and the community. The depth and variety of my involvement before becoming a trustee, the broad relationships I’ve developed to represent our community’s interests and values, and my experience over the past 6 years – from governance, legislative and operational perspectives – are the experiences I bring to benefit the residents of the district.
  • Our district and Board are in the midst of navigating our budget challenges. We are looking through a lens that extends into the 2025-2026 academic year; that is the soonest public education funding could change, barring a special session with bills that allocate the billions that have been set aside for public education in Texas. I believe we should continue the process we have begun, which includes deciding what our priorities are, evaluating alternative sources of revenue, seeking community input and engagement, determining what has previously made us a destination school district, committing funds to invest in those distinguishers and reducing expenses in areas that are not aligned with the vision of remaining a destination district
  • In addition to the budget and the outcomes associated with that process, there are other issues that are important to me. I look forward to there being a long-term, strategic vision for CISD that enables us to remain a destination district. The Board’s updated HB3 goals related to reading and math that include annual benchmarks are a high priority for me before fall. Learning gaps for all student sub-populations is the other area of great importance to me. My goal is for each student to experience a year of learning every year that they are in CISD, develop meaningful relationships and be world ready.
I'm passionate about the appropriate funding of public education in Texas. Beyond that, all policy related to public education is of interest to me.
The core responsibility of a school board trustee is governance. Within the governance framework, my purview includes adopting a budget and setting a tax rate; adopting policies and reviewing effectiveness; hiring and evaluating the superintendent; adopting goals and monitoring their progress; and communicating with the community.
I vividly remember the Space Shuttle Challenger explosion while our 8th grade class was watching it live during History. I will never forget my teacher's reaction.
My very first job was as a seasonal gift wrapper at the Buckle (formerly the Brass Buckle) and I stayed on as a salesperson.
My constituents are the voters and residents of Coppell ISD while the responsibility is to work for the benefit of Coppell ISD's students.
I have a long list of endorsers on my web page.
