Nick Clemente was born and raised in Northern Virginia. In elementary school, he was diagnosed with dyslexia. However, he succeeded through perseverance and determination, receiving his B.A. in Communications from Wittenberg University and his master’s degree in Social Entrepreneurship from George Mason University.

Nick began working in politics while in college. Shortly after his college graduation, he joined Thompson Advisory Group, serving as Government Affairs Coordinator until 2016. From 2016 to 2018, Nick worked as an Asset Manager at Comstock Companies. Since 2017, Nick is a member of the Potomac Valley Officiating Association, primarily working youth basketball and softball games. He serves as the Membership Director for the Virginia chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors since 2018, helping small businesses find ways to thrive in a struggling economy. Nick has also fought on behalf of small businesses during his service on the Leesburg Planning Commission. Nick’s passion is solving problems, helping others believe in themselves, and achieving more through positive thinking, bridge-building, and goal-setting. His own journey with dyslexia has taught him the importance of faith and family in overcoming challenges to make a positive difference. These experiences, coupled with the struggles students currently face in our district, have inspired his run for the Virginia House of Delegates.

Nick currently lives in the town of Leesburg.
  • Mental health permeates everyone’s life. All have experienced personal loss, and statistics show that in 2020 alone, suicide was the 10th leading cause of death in Virginia and the 2nd leading cause for ages 10-34. This is a health crisis that needs to be addressed, and we must take action now. Nick will champion mental health awareness and work to bring in more funding for mental health solutions in Virginia.
  • COVID-19 has exacerbated existing educational disparities and upended how students learn and interact. This has disproportionately affected special needs students, as well as those from lower-income households or rural communities without high-speed internet access. Nick will work to safely reopen schools and close the education gap by providing resources for all students regardless of learning abilities, race, background, or income level.
  • Everyone has been affected by this pandemic. Many have had to choose between jobs and children, while others have had the choice made for them when their employers closed their businesses. Nick will help us recover from COVID-19 and ensure that no one is left behind in the process.
I am running because students are struggling due to the COVID pandemic. However, students with learning disabilities, those who lack access to the internet, minorities, and children living below the poverty line are falling behind. There are negative consequences to distance learning.

If you can’t afford mental health treatment, but then your government is telling you not to go to work or your child can’t go to school, the psychosocial well-being of people is detrimentally affected. This is the biggest individual liberty that has been under assault in the Commonwealth. The General Assembly should invest in mental health to be more accessible to Virginians.

Furthermore, our personal freedom and economic opportunity have been undermined. I don't have an issue with people joining unions, but I don’t think someone’s employment should be based on whether or not they are a part of a union. Being a right-to-work state is not anti-union. It’s just a way to preserve individual freedom as to whether a person decides to join or not join a union. Project labor agreements, which are when a government awards a construction contract exclusively to unionized firms, can be a burden on taxpayers.

One of the fundamental responsibilities of good governance is protecting our communities. I want to ensure that our law enforcement and public safety agencies are well-trained and properly funded. Recruitment efforts and continuing education and professional development are also essential.
Always being available and responsive for your constituents.
Overcoming my dyslexia as a child engrained in me hard work, perseverance, and determination. With the struggles facing Virginia, these skills equipped me to ensure that Virginians are not left behind.
I want to show all students who are struggling with self-doubt, that if you believe in yourself, no mountain is too high to climb.
