I am running for Iowa Senate for the same reason I became a nurse and got my PhD, because I want to make rural people's lives better. As a mom of three young kids and wife of a former US Air Force Captain, I will continuously fight to ensure that our kids have communities, a state, and a country they can be proud of.
  • Your zip code will impact your health more than your genetic code and rural areas are worse off. This is because of policy. So simply because of where we live and who represents us, our lives are made harder and unhealthier. This is unacceptable. Rural people deserve better.
  • Public schools are the backbone of rural communities. We need to properly fund and support our schools and teachers.
  • We need to put people over politics. Corporate and out-of-state special interest groups should not be prioritized over the needs and voices of Iowans.
Integrity. Leadership is not always doing what your boss or "superior" tells you to do. Leadership is doing what is right even if it is the hard thing to do.
Compassionate: I put people first. As a nurse I took an oath to serve everyone and I take that very seriously. I believe everyone deserves good representation regardless of party or background and I engage with everyone. This race is not about representing a party or myself, it is about representing people.

Good listener: There is a difference between hearing what people have to say and listening. Hearing is passive, listening is active. I don't want to just hear what people think, I want to listen to what people think, engage with them, and create policy/make decisions that is guided by Iowans.
Analyst: As a researcher my brain is constantly synthesizing information, analyzing data, drawing connections, and asking big questions. Policy should be data driven, solve real problems Iowans are facing, and not create more problems.
Integrity: Leadership is doing what is right even if it is the hard or unpopular thing to do. I would rather do what is right and have a short political career, than do what I am told and have a longer political career.

Honesty: There can be no trust without honesty. At a time when trust has been deeply eroded in politics, I think the best thing we can do to rebuild trust is to lead with honesty, compassion, and integrity.
1. To be accountable to the people they represent.
2. To be transparent about the decisions they make.
That I made rural people's lives better.
My very first job was as dishwasher at a local ski resort/restaurant.
I believe we cannot have government accountability without financial transparency.
