As a Bellevue resident, I see so much potential for Bellevue as we grow. Recently, I’ve been working to share information about major city decisions and opportunities to be heard, and I want to help residents connect with each other and our city leadership. My background in engineering has been helpful as I immerse myself in policy details, and I like to think that my explanations give friends and neighbors a better understanding of the issues.

It is very important to me that Bellevue stays a wonderful place for families. We moved here for the schools but have found that the playgrounds, places to walk with a stroller, and number of other families with kids moving in near us have all exceeded our expectations.

We benefited because people who knew the challenges involved with parenting figured out ways to make that experience more seamless, and I’m so grateful for all their work to make Bellevue what it is now. I think it’s now our turn to pay it forward for those who will come here next, by ensuring that our high standards for housing and the urban experience are maintained (both for families and other demographics).
  • Our community must be well-informed and welcomed to participate in city decisions that will affect their lives.
  • We should have welcoming streetscapes and a less stressful experience of getting around the city.
  • We can protecting neighborhoods while providing the housing options people want, such as housing for families, affordable housing, housing for seniors, housing for first responders and teachers, ramp accessible/visitable housing, and housing for young adults.
I am passionate about getting people informed and involved. I want predictable policies that are clearly defined and messaged, so that people can make life decisions based on what’s expected to happen. I want people to know when changes are being proposed, so that they can decide whether speaking up is a good use of their time. I also love how good conversations can bring neighborhoods together and showcase how lucky we are to have community members with a diversity of perspectives and experiences.

I am also very passionate about healthy kids and planting street trees.
I believe Costco creates a huge amount of surplus value for their shoppers. Similarly, I know people are paying a premium to live in Bellevue, I want them to feel that we’ve delivered a good value. I want residents to want to stay, to re-sign a lease, to put down roots. I want them to have good surprises when it comes to how much they like living here and the costs they end up paying.
Listening to gather the opinions of the community, and understanding the background on the issues to put that knowledge into action. Not all members of the council will have expertise on each issue, so it’s important to have a diversity of representation and for councilmembers to invite residents to be heard.
Ensure Bellevue is investing in the right things to maximize the happiness of the people who live and work in our city.

Work hard to understand and think creatively about our options when action is required.
Minimize risk and establish guardrails so that the worst case outcomes are not on the table and the debate is centered on multiple good options, as well as being less contentious.

Think critically and ensure we have a good basis for our decisions.
