- Relevant experience matters! I have civil litigation experience representing plaintiffs and defendants, primarily in the county court at law. I have tried more than three hundred (300) cases before the bench and juries and my experience encompasses all matters that come before this court. Civil trial experience matters! It matters in managing the docket and expediting the disposition of the cases before the court when the judge has experience in prosecuting cases from start to finish.
- Increase access to the Courts. Although we have extraordinary service providers, such as Legal Aid of Northwest Texas, the law school legal clinics and the work of pro bono volunteer attorneys through the area bar associations, the need is greater than the supply. I would utilize the Alternate Dispute Resolution Center as an option for litigants to mediate their cases, rather than expend the time and money to wait for trial. The Center is subsidized by Dallas County and offers affordable solutions to parties who may not be able to afford private mediation.
- Leverage Technology. The pandemic has shown us how technology improves court processes and provides more effective access to the Court. By providing improved public access, transparency and accountability, we will increase public confidence in the courts.
