I have experience serving as municipal judge prior to moving to the Town of Shelby (a municipality included in the jurisdiction of the Coulee Region Joint Municipal Court). My dedication to public service, my compassion for all members of our community and my experience as both judge and practicing attorney (with 15+ years of practice and well over 200 trials as an attorney, and numerous trials over which I have presided as judge) make me the ideal candidate for municipal judge of the Coulee Region Joint Municipal Court.
  • A primary goal of my court is to provide justice on a case by case basis. Every case is different, every defendant is different; and, true justice demands awareness of these differences.
  • My court will act to effectively deter offenses generally--by holding open court with dispositional details available to the public; and, to deter individual offenders--by imposing sentences that demand accountability and opportunity for rehabilitation. Additionally and importantly, my court will endeavor to assure victims are made whole and offenders are held responsible.
  • My court will dispose of cases in a manner that reaffirms societal norms and expectations by providing equitable and firm dispositions in open court with substantive explanation supporting the dispositions entered.
Judicial Impartiality. A judge should be faithful to, and maintain professional competence in, the law and should not be swayed by partisan interests, public clamor, or fear of criticism.
I was 7 when the fall of the Berlin Wall occurred. I vividly remember watching the news with my family that night; and, my dad commenting that I should watch closely as a barrier to liberty was being--quite literally--destroyed before our eyes.
