Strong advocate for the people. Empathic and responsive listener. Vice chair of the Litchfield Budget Committee. Litchfield public member of the PFAS/PFoAs Commission. Experience testifying in committees and hearings. Love my town of Litchfield. Live with my husband and two dogs. Willing to drastically reduce my hours as a clinical social worker and substance use disorder clinician in order to serve the people as a state representative. Master of Arts in Public Policy from New England College has helped me cultivate up to date information on policy and government in the Granite State.
  • As a social worker I am uniquely qualified for state office - I spend the majority of my time making connections with people from all walks of life.
  • I am responsive and pledge to respond to every constituent correspondence in a timely and comprehensive manner. I will also hold monthly open office hours.
  • I believe every person's contributions are valuable and intend to run an inclusive campaign.
equitable public education funding, universal health care, paid family & medical leave, livable minimum wage, mental health and substance use disorder treatment accessibility and availability, affordable housing, disability access and rights
I believe that the core responsibilities for a NH State Rep include: open and honest communication with all constituents, full consideration of all sides of an issue before rendering judgement/voting, attending all scheduled meetings of committees and complete House, researching forthcoming bills including outreach to involved citizens and scholarly/historical fact gathering and interpretation, and at all times representing the Town of Litchfield in an upstanding, moral, civil, and respectful manner.
I love reading. It is difficult for me to select just one book when so many over the years have influenced me in different ways. I would absolutely recommend The Brain that Changes Itself: Stories of Personal Triumph from the Frontiers of Brain Science by Norman Doidge, MD about neuroplasticity - the ability of the brain to recover from damage, deficiencies, and illness. I found it very hopeful, that there are ways to come back from even the most devastating of circumstances. We can all use more hope in our lives.
I have been diagnosed with physical and psychiatric disabilities at different points in my life. I have struggled in the past with symptoms and challenges from complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. In part it was my own recovery from mental illness that inspired me to pursue a degree in clinical social work. I also have a genetic connective tissue disorder that causes everything in my body that is not a bone or muscle to be unusually loose and/or stretchy - leading to a lifetime of chronic pain, injuries, and multiple surgeries. There is no cure for this condition, but rather I have learned how to adapt my life and ask for help when needed. I usually use a cane for balance and safety, which can be strange for some to see given I'm only in my early 30's. But I hope that instead of feeling pity or being judgmental, people are able to see me as someone who is resilient and flexible - pretty important characteristics for a politician one might also think.
I think it is absolutely necessary to build relationships with other legislators. We have to be willing to collaborate wherever doing so would be in the best interest of our constituents. The NH House of Representatives is a very large political body and no one representative should think they can be a lone wolf.
I support an independent nonpartisan redistricting process. I believe that voters should select their political representatives and not the other way around. It is important that districts are created in a way that makes sense for the people at large, not individual politicians or parties.
I believe I would be a natural fit for the Health, Human Services, and Elderly Affairs Committee given my professional background as a social worker and substance use disorder clinician. However, I also believe I could be an asset for the Municipal and County Government Committee given my experience as an elected member, and now Vice Chair, of Litchfield's Budget Committee (and a frequent spectator and public input participant at Board of Selectmen meetings).
