I thought the fight of my life would be over the deserts of Iraq and the mountains of Afghanistan, but it was with my newborn in the Intensive Care Unit at Children's Hospital. Henry is healthy now, but I met so many families who were trying to get the care they needed without going bankrupt. That's why I'm running for Congress. For far too long, Washington politicians have served the special interests instead of our country and the people they represent.

I'm the daughter of immigrants who worked hard to achieve the American Dream. My dad emigrated from the Philippines as a teenager and worked as an auto mechanic. My mom came to the United States as a young child, started as a secretary, and eventually finished college at the age of 52.

After September 11th, I signed up for pilot training, where I met my husband, Rob. We deployed together three times, and I deployed twice more. After leaving active duty we settled in Mason, Ohio, where I was accepted into GE Aviation's Junior Officer Leadership Program. I'm ready to continue my service to country as the next Representative of Ohio's First District.
  • Making healthcare more accessible and affordable; including protecting those with pre-existing conditions, working to lower the price of prescription drugs, and making sure when we talk healthcare we are including mental health and addiction services.
  • The dignity of work; If you work hard you should be able to get ahead; ensuring a livable wage.
  • Infrastructure doesn't just include the need of repairing our roads and the Brent Spence bridge, but also looking ahead to build a framework that moves our country forward; improving safety for bicyclists and pedestrians; expansion of broadband access; preservation of clean drinking water.
I'm personally passionate about public policies that will move our country forward. As the mother of a child with a pre-existing cardiac condition and the daughter of a father who went on disability for a back injury, that caused our family to go bankrupt; we must make healthcare more accessible and affordable; lower prescription drug cost through negotiations, and include mental health and addiction treatment services to ensure a holistic approach to care for all Ohioans.
Profiles in Courage- John F. Kennedy Jr. - There have been great leaders throughout our country's history who have done the right thing regardless of the consequence to their personal political career. I believe we need leaders of character in elected office to serve to fight for what's right.
Integrity First, Service Before Self, Excellence

These are the US Air Force core values that I have embodied my entire adult life. All constituents deserve a representative with honor & integrity. It takes real commitment to put service before self, where the needs of the constituents in the district are a priority. As an Air Force pilot, there are flying standards that you must uphold for yourself and your fellow crew members for the safety of all even in the midst of combat danger. Elected officials should hold that same level of accountability that we are accustomed to in the aviation world and when serving in uniform.
Servant Leadership, it is the true north that guides my military career and community life. After having served in the U.S. Air Force active duty for 12 years as a pilot with 217 combat missions over Iraq & Afghanistan throughout five deployments, I am accustomed to putting the needs of country first. As a candidate for Ohio State House in 2018, I ran for office while pregnant with our youngest son, Henry, because the community asked me to challenge an incumbent who did not show up to work. As a candidate for U.S. Congress in OH-1, I'm running to stand up for families like my own.
Being a U.S. House Representative is about serving the constituents of Ohio's First District. I believe my core responsibility is to listen and serve the needs of the people. Whether it be writing legislation that will bring jobs and opportunity to the district or partnering with bi-partisan colleagues to deliver for the future of the country, I am excited to further my service to this country in Congress.
I believe from my faith that we are only on this Earth for a small amount of time, and we cannot waste it. If I listen and pray, I will hear how I am called to serve as a daughter, sister, mother, wife, Air Force officer, pilot, business woman, activist, or candidate; our roles change like the seasons, but I have learned that you must follow your heart and watch for the doors when they open and have the courage to walk through them. Each role should be for the purpose of serving the greater good.

The legacy I want to leave as a member of Congress is lifting up hard working families and our planet towards a brighter future by doing the right thing even when it is hard.
I had two jobs during high school - Soccer Referee and Daycare Assistant. Being a Soccer Referee taught me about fair play, following and enforcing the rules. Sometimes that meant having a middle aged adult angry about a call I made. That courage to stand up for what's right regardless of the consequences has continued throughout my entire life. Being a Daycare Assistant taught me at a young age the value of early childhood education.
"If You're Out There"-- John Legend - It is a call to action for my generation to step up and get involved with the forming of our nation.
Having spent 12 years active duty in the U.S. Air Force, deploying five times to Iraq and Afghanistan one of my biggest struggles was coming home after being deployed to Afghanistan. I had a young son and husband at home. We were separated for 11 months, and re-integration was a challenge. This challenge is not unique to me and my family. All military families have some struggle getting settled back into "normal" day-to-day life.

Nikki Foster participated in Ballotpedia's candidate survey on April 6, 2018. The survey questions appear in bold, and Nikki Foster's responses follow below.[2]

What would be your top three priorities, if elected?

1) Public Education

2) Stagnating Wages
3) Opioid Epidemic[3][4]

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about? Why?

I am passionate about reinvesting in Ohio's future through public education and providing technical and trade schools that will help keep Ohio economically competitive. I am a product of public education. I attended the US Air Force Academy and served in the USAF for 12.5 years as a pilot with 217 combat missions. I have seen first hand how veterans have tangible skills that can be used to contribute to our community and economy with the training and education we received in the service. I help veterans as a career transition coach for a non-profit and I work at GE Aviation's Veteran Network help get veterans hired into our company. I have the same hope for all Ohioans that their education will lead to contributing to society and growing our communities.Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; invalid names, e.g. too many[4]
