Gun Legislation, Education and the Environment, Equality for all
Barack Obama and Michelle Obama are prime examples of what a great leader is. These two individuals have such a way with people and grace about them that makes you want to be a better person. I only hope to have as much dignity, and grace as them.
Two films that best show and represent my political philosophy is the film Truman. With his philosophy that the buck stops here, taking responsibility for his actions instead of blame. Another is Bobby about Bobby Kennedy, It displayed the importance of diversity and black lives matter.
A characteristic that I believe is most important in a political leader is honesty. The people need an official that has their constituents best interest in mind and is someone the people can trust.
I believe that I would make a successful representative due to the fact that I stand up for individuals without a voice. I stand up for what I believe in even when it is not the popular opinion. I grew up having the privilege to watch my parents stand up for people and they have taught me well.
Represent their constituents not only themself.

Consistently represent their district by voting on every issue.

Dedication to the role, showing up and being present.
I would like to leave the legacy of a compassionate individual that is empathetic to everyone and always honest.
The major first historical event in my life was the passing of President John F. Kennedy. I was around four years old watching a tiny black and white tv helping with chores when the news broke. I remember how devastated and heartbroken society was when the news broke in my community.
My very first job was at Baskin Robins scooping ice cream and making sundaes. I held this job throughout high school, It was a great first job and company. A fun fact is that Barack Obama and I had the same first job!
To KIll A Mockingbird. The book depicts an issue that was prevalent when I read it many years ago and is still an issue today. It shows the racial inequality and injustice of society while also bring awareness to the negative stigma and irrational fears of mental illness that society carries as a whole. This book is one that has stood the test of time.
The biggest struggle in my life is losing my brothers all way too young and coping with the grief that I had.
The Florida House of Representatives is unique in the fact that it makes sure that the governor does not have too much power. It is diverse and truly represents our states population from all aspects.
It is not necessary to have prior experience in politics. Everyone needs to start somewhere.
In the next decade I forsee the biggest challenges for our nation as a whole to be fully recovering from the Coronavirus Pandemic. Restoring the economy, the job market and the healthcare system. As well as focusing on the current environmental crisis that our world is facing with global warming, and lastly the housing crisis.
As a first time political candidate there are many committees that I would love to be apart of. One of the biggest that comes to mind is Moms Demand Action. This particular committee fights for a cause that I am personally super passionate about. With their advocacy to fight for stricter and safer gun laws all throughout the United States.
The term length for house representatives is too short. By the time you win the election you are bound to have to run again. If the term was extended to 4 years, the representatives would have more time to focus on the matters of the house other than working on another campaign.
THe term limits should be limited to two terms in house and in senate.
One representative that I want to model myself after is State House Representative is Cindy Polo of District 103. She is so welcoming and goes out of her to make sure her community is taken care of.

Evan Jene is another representative that is a good example of a representative that is so knowledgeable and so willingly to offer guidance without making one feel lessor than but always makes one feel equal.
When petitioning to get on the ballot, I had the pleasure of running into a old minister. He was distraught over the fact that he was a lifetime republican and had to vote for the first time as a democrat. Due to what Donald Trump has done to our country and political system. He broke down into tears while telling his story and I was very empathetic towards him because I have so many republican friends and family that feel the same way. It has been so hard for them.
