No more interim appointments in Pennsylvania
April 30, 2010
Pennsylvania: In a move to save money, Governor Ed Rendell has agreed with Chief Justice Ronald Castille to stop making interim judicial appointments for a time. There are currently over two dozen judicial vacancies in Pennsylvania. Usually, the Governor will appoint temporary, or interim, judges to fill these posts until the next election. However, Chief Justice Castille requested a freeze on these appointments in light of the judiciary's "precarious financial position."[1]
