Noach Dear
Noach Dear (November 20, 1953–April 19, 2020) was a justice of the 2nd Judicial District in New York, serving on the court from 2015 to 2020. He previously served as an acting justice on the court from 2010 to 2015. He was also on the New York City Civil Court from 2008 to 2015.[1]
Dear died on April 19, 2020, due to complications related to coronavirus infection.[2]
Education
In 1975, Dear received both a B.S. from Brooklyn College and a M.S.W. from the Yu Wurzweiler School of Social Work. He received his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 1991.[1]
Career
Prior to his judicial career, Dear worked as a commissioner of the Taxi and Limousine Commission, was a member of the New York City Council and a district manager for the Kings County Community Board #12. He was elected to the New York City Civil Court of Kings County in 2008 and was appointed an acting supreme court justice in 2010.[1]

Dear was elected without opposition to the Supreme Court 2nd Judicial District in 2015. New York's general judicial election was held on November 3, 2015. The filing deadline for candidates was August 16, 2015.
Noteworthy events
On April 20, 2020, it was announced that Dear died from complications caused by the coronavirus.[3]
