I am a Louisville native and 13 year member of Carpenters Local 175 where I hold an elective office. Currently, I work as a Representative for the IKORCC. I am an active volunteer organizing blood drives, helping the Ronald McDonald House, and rehabing homes through Operation Victory benefiting homeless Veterans. My wife Sarah and our Standard Poodle, Daisy Mae, resident on Hillbrook Drive in the Brookhaven Neighborhood where I am Vice-Chair of the voluntary neighborhood association. Recently, I was nominated and appointed to serve on the Louisville Jefferson County Democratic Party Executive Committee from the 31st legislative district. I look forward to working hard to increase turnout, encourage new faces to run for office, and get Louisville Democrats elected.
  • I am not a career politician, I simply love this city and it's people and what to make an impact right here, right now.
  • I am a dedicated leader who will emphasize teamwork, transparency, accountability, and communication in all aspects on city government.
  • I don't have all the answers to Louisville's problems but what I do have is humility and the desire to work with those who have first hand experience to find solutions and implement them.
Personally, I and most of the people in District 18 I have met are passionate about public safety, communication, the city's budget(no new taxes), and responsible economic development. We simply can't keep cutting frontline worker jobs like police, fire, ems, etc and expect to have the same level of safety and response time when needed. In District 18, the majority of people don't get heard. Topgolf is a prime example of that. CW Parker voted against Topgolf when the overwhelming majority of residents support it coming to Oxmoor. No new taxes is a huge one for me. Louisville residents are taxed more than most other major cities. City government needs a complete overhaul of its departments and transparency and accountability on all fronts. We need to streamline services and focus on efficiency to better utilize the tax dollars we do get. Lastly, I will fight for responsible economic development meaning that we mandate that developers and contractors utilize local workers on any tax payer subsidized project so our tax dollars stay in our local economy.
To be a representative of the WHOLE district. Not just to your party or supporters but to everyone. Fixing roads and sidewalks are primarily tasks a council member must address but it is so much more than that. Working towards clean, renewable energy standards for the city, reigning in spending and budget issues, and addressing the growing concerns over social justice and equality to name a few.
My first job was at Old Navy in Springhurst. It was there that I first learned about customer service, listening to others, and attention to detail. Folding what seemed like a million Fourth of July tshirts (remember those?) teaches you a lot about patience, organization, and commitment. It's hard to say how long I worked there as it was during high school but we will say around one year. I then moved on the the Target right next door.
It's your ship' by Mike Abrashoff is a great story of how transformational leadership can bring the worst performing ship in the Navy to the pinnacle of success that others to this day strive to accomplish. This book has taught me how to lead by example and get others to 'buy in' to the why. When you treat others the way you want to be treated, encourage ownership, and give appropriate feedback the sky is the limit.
People should know more about the Neighborhood Discretionary Funds and how they are spent. They most certainly should be utilized in the district for the betterment and progression of the people and their desires.
Experience is always a plus but I do not think it is a must for Louisville Metro Council members. Metro Council members should possess a strong desire to help the community in which they live, listen to the people, and work towards fixing the trouble areas.
Teamwork and dedication should be at the forefront of a Council member's skill set. Leading by example would be a close third. People have a hard time believing in a 'leader' who doesn't 'show up' or 'put their money where their mouth is'. Certainly organization and efficiency should be qualities this officeholder possesses as well.
