Nominee selected by President Obama for the Southern District of New York

Washington D.C.: On March 31, 2011, President Obama nominated Alison J. Nathan for a seat on the Southern District of New York federal court. Nathan was nominated as a replacement for the retired Sidney Stein.[1] Nathan currently serves as Special Counsel to the Solicitor General in the Office of the Attorney General of the State of New York. She has also served as served as a Special Assistant to President Obama and an Associate White House Counsel. Nathan received her B.A. in 1994 from Cornell University and her J.D., magna cum laude, in 2000 from Cornell Law School. Obama said this, of his nomination, "Alison Nathan is a distinguished individual who has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to justice throughout her career. I am grateful for her decision to serve the American people from the District Court bench."[2]
