Nominees announced for seat on the DC Court of Appeals

Washington, D.C.: Three nominees were announced to fill a vacant seat on the District of Columbia Court of Appeals on June 15, 2011. The nominees are:

  • Alan Robert Burch, an Assistant Appellate Counsel in the Civil Division of the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia
  • Catharine (Kate) Friend Easterly, an attorney in the Special Litigation Division of the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia
  • Christopher Todd Handman, a partner in the Supreme Court and appellate practice at Hogan Lovells US LLP

The seat is open due to the May 1, 2011 retirement of Noël Kramer. The President has 60 days to make a nomination to the court, which is the District of Columbia's court of last resort.[1]
