Nominees named for Utah 2nd District Court

Ogden, Utah: Nominees have been selected to fill four vacancies in the Utah Second Judicial District. Juvenile court judges L. Kent Bachman and Stephen A. Van Dyke are retiring in August of 2010 and Judges Jon M. Memmott and Pamela G. Heffernan have recently retired. The 2nd District Judicial Nominating Commission has selected the following candidates to fill these vacancies:
- For Judge Bachman's seat:
- David M. Carlson - city attorney for North Ogden
- Sherene Dillon - Attorney, 2nd District Office of the Guardian ad Litem
- Jann Farris - Morgan County attorney and Lead paralegal instructor for Davis Area Technical College
- Michelle Heward - Riverdale Justice Court Judge, Administrative Law Judge and Professor in the Criminal Justice Dept. of Weber State University
- Sharon Sipes - Law Office of Sharon S. Sipes and Parental Defense Alliance member
- For Judge Van Dyke's seat:
- Jeffrey J. Noland - Managing Attorney, 3rd District Office of the Guardian ad Litem

- For Judge Memmott's seat:

After a 10-day public comment period, the Governor will have 30 days to choose a nominee for each position. The Senate Confirmation Committee will review these nominations and conduct public hearings and interviews before sending the names to the full state Senate for confirmation. The new judges will be confirmed within 60 days of the Governor's nomination.[1]
