  • Experience matters, now more than ever. Over the past four years, I’ve worked with the Board, Superintendent, and our administrators to make the best decisions for our students’ education and well-being. Infrastructure projects to keep our children safe. Mental health support programs to keep kids healthy and in school. Expanded West Shore Career Tech programs to offer new opportunities. Programs that promote literacy, recycling programs, civic involvement, arts achievement, and so much more. As a parent of two Lakewood students, I know our schools offer every child the opportunity to achieve their full potential.
  • Serving on the Board means working as a team, among the five board members and with the administration, to create an environment that helps our students achieve. It means making difficult decisions, knowing that positive outcomes might not be realized for months or even years. It requires dedication, patience, and resilience. We tackle challenging issues to help our schools evolve, while respecting our community’s deeply held values and traditions. We address real issues now, with a perspective on how our decisions will affect students and schools years from now.
  • I want to continue to ensure that every Lakewood student receives an education that prepares them for their chosen path in life. I will stand up for public education, support our teachers, and defend policies to keep curriculum, materials and classroom discussions free from political and extremist restrictions. I will fight to protect the rights and dignity of every child so that they feel seen, safe, and secure. These are challenging times. But we must remember the wonderful growth and achievement happening inside Lakewood’s schools. Every child is welcome. We address many needs and abilities. We have so much to be proud of, and so much to fight for.
I believe building community is the foundation for all of the other principles. Building community means creating connections, and working to eliminate isolation. The more we are connected in community with each other, the easier it is to break down partisan barriers. When you know you are acting with community members you know and trust, it is easier to take action to fight for rights that you believe in. When you have community members who you love and want to protect, you want to lead by example to earn their respect. When you have a community that is connected by trust and respect, power is earned and shared, and strategy and influence flow naturally. Including everyone makes it easy to tackle issues together.
