A North Carolina Gubernatorial Election Amendment did not make the 2012 ballot in North Carolina as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment.
The measure requires that the governor and lieutenant governor run together in the general election.[1]

The proposed measure would have asked voters:[2]
Constitutional amendment providing that candidates for Governor and Lieutenant Governor shall be listed on the general election ballot as a team.

The North Carolina Constitution, Section 4 of Article XIII, requires that a legislatively referred amendment go on the ballot after it is approved by a 60% vote of each house of the North Carolina State Legislature.
