I believe North Carolinians deserve a leader that always has a goal making NC First in all areas. Whether that is in per-pupil spending, or creating affordable healthcare access, it must be our target. If a candidate or representative does not have that goal, they should not be a leader.

American Democracy is under attack and NC needs leaders that will protect our way of governing in a fair and representative way. We must end gerrymandering and again allow the fundamental freedom of voting to occur uninfringed.

It is my belief that all people will lead happy and productive lives with kindness and compassion for all if our basic needs are met. For too long, regressive politicians have chipped away at our social safety nets and met only the needs of the elite few. I believe the best way to unlock all of our potentials for greatness is to meet the basic needs of all. An effective government can make that a reality if the right people are elected.
As an educator, and former mental health counselor, those are two areas I am passionate about. I truly believe that adequate investment in a sound basic public education system is one of the most important things we can do for a better community, state, nation, and world. From universal pre-K, to K-12, to the community colleges and state universities, North Carolinians deserve a well-educated populace. Shared prosperity will come from shared critical thinking abilities. Mental healthcare has traditionally been ignored and we must create a robust mental healthcare infrastructure for every North Carolinian. Nearly half of us will meet criteria for a psychological disorder in our lifetimes. Everyone should have access to affordable and effective mental healthcare. Unfortunately, we don't even have that affordable access to general healthcare. By expanding Medicaid and investing in community mental health, all North Carolinians could experience the freedom that health brings.
