North Dakota: In a state with relatively low-key judicial elections, candidates filing for the upcoming vacancy of H. Patrick Weir are making headlines. So far, two candidates have filed to compete in the 2012 election, though the filing deadline is not until April 13.

The first candidate to file was Kevin McCabe. He served as a supervising attorney in the Office of the Public Defender for six years, in addition to spending time in private practice. Dann Greenwood is the other filed candidate at this point. Greenwood has served as an attorney for thirty-five years.[1]

The two are competing for a seat on the Southwest Judicial District of the District Courts. The primary election will be held on June 12, and the general election on November 6, 2012.[2]
