North Dakota County and Municipal Debt Limits Referendum, Amendment 1 (1972)
The North Dakota County and Municipal Debt Limits Referendum, also known as Amendment 1, was on the September 5, 1972 ballot in North Dakota as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment, where it was defeated.[1] The measure would have limited any county, township, city , school district or other political subdivision from having debt that exceeds eight percent upon the assessed value of the taxable property in that political subdivision. At the time this limit was at five percent.[2]
