North Dakota Farm Machinery and Electricity Taxes Initiative, Measure 1 (1976)

The North Dakota Farm Machinery and Electricity Taxes Initiative, also known as Measure 1, was on the November 2, 1976 ballot in North Dakota as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment, where it was approved.[1] The measure provided for a two percent tax on sales and purchases of farm machinery and irrigation equipment used exclusively for agricultural purposes and a three percent tax on all other taxable sales and uses. It also provided an exemption of sales of electricity from sales taxes and purchases of electricity from use tax.[2]
