North Dakota Hail Insurance Initiative (1918)

The North Dakota Hail Insurance Initiative, also known as Amendment to Section 177, was on the November , 5 1918 ballot in North Dakota as an initiated constitutional amendment, where it was approved.[1] The measure created an acerage tax and used the revenue from it to provide hail insurance for farmers.[2] A related legislatively referred constitutional amendment was also passed in 1918, which empowered the legislature to create land taxes to fund hail crop insurance.
