The North Dakota Legislative Sessions Amendment was not on the ballot in North Dakota as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment on November 5, 2024.

The amendment would have increased legislative sessions from 80 days to 100 days in a two-year period, allowed the legislature to extend the session by 20 days with a two-thirds vote, and allowed the legislature to reconvene to override vetos.[1]

To put a legislatively referred constitutional amendment before voters, a simple majority vote is required in both the North Dakota State Senate and the North Dakota House of Representatives.

This amendment was introduced as House Concurrent Resolution 3020 on February 20, 2023. The House approved the amendment by a vote of 74-18 on March 14, 2023. The measure failed its second reading in the Senate in a vote of 0-46.[1]
